There is a study that was done mid 80's with food allergic children given bovine thymus extract for 6 months. After that time frame they found that IGE numbers reduced by nearly 30%, IGA nearly doubled, and food tolerance was increased.

Has anyone tried this?
I am interested to try this with my son, but concerned about mad cow - because USDA tests such small percentage of cows - and does not allow farmers/meat producers to test even if they wanted to.
Here is another article - study done at Beth Israel (Harvard Med School)

This Blog is a place for me to post, and others to post, communications with companies regarding food allergy and cross contamination concerns. It's also a place to share product info, concerns, recipes - and rant.

Rainforest Cafe
I visited the Rainforest Cafe with my son today. He was drawn in by the animals hanging on the building outside. Of course we didn't eat anything, but instead just walked around and looked at the robotic animals. He loved it. I forget sometimes how this simple little thing can light up a 4 year old's mind and day.
It was sad to me that while we walked through this plastic automated place the real Amazon is being destroyed daily. And this place is filled with thumping music, huge plastic bottles with colored drinks and hugely portioned food that just seems so far from nature. It was actually nice for once not to feel envious of the families eating with their kids - like they can take their kids out and let them eat food someone else has prepared without worry. This was a world, I was glad we didn't fully belong to.
